Tiernan History

In 1989, Dennis Tiernan left his job at Eastern Petroleum as an oil technician with 15 years' experience in oil heat and started Family Heating Service, LLC in Stevensville, MD. He specialized primarily in oil heat and eventually serviced heat pumps and air conditioners as well as installation. His wife, Linda, worked out of their home answering the phone, managing finances, and scheduling work. Dennis and Linda then moved to Preston, MD and their business sky-rocketed. They not only serviced the Queen Anne’s County area, but the Talbot and Caroline area as well. In the year 2005, their son, Jimmy, left his current job and started working for his parents, as well as becoming an owner. Over the years, Dennis and Jimmy have worked together closely to establish the business. In 2018, the business relocated to Grasonville, MD where their brand new 4,000 sqft. shop was built. As of now, Jimmy oversees the operation of the business, Linda manages financial affairs, and Kierstin manages the office. 

It is with profound sadness that we announce Dennis' passing on 5/7/2025. Dennis is deeply missed everyday and his legacy will live on for decades. Dennis built this company from the ground up and we are so appreciative for his dedication and loyalty to this family business. We love you, Dennis!
